Here are some common situations when students drop classes, and each one has its own set of steps to follow.
A student was accidentally enrolled in the wrong class sections.
A group of students were unintentionally signed up for the same incorrect section.
After attending a class for at least a day, a student decides to drop it and enrolls in a different class during the same cycle day, period, and term as the class they're dropping.
After attending for at least a day, a group of students drop their current class and then enroll in new classes during the same cycle day, period, and term.
A student is dropping classes because they are withdrawing from school.
If a student is withdrawing from school, their classes will be dropped automatically when you transfer them out. If you need to drop a student from a class but they are not withdrawing from school, follow these steps.
Go to Modify Course Schedule
Enter the exit date in the Effective Enrollment Date box.
This should be the day after the last day the student is in class.
Click the checkbox in the Drop column for the class/es you want to drop.
Click Drop Selected
You can also click Drop All to drop all of the classes in the schedule.
Click Drop Classes.
You have the opportunity to double check the class/es you are dropping and the exit date before finalizing.
Dependent sections are used to associate one section with another, requiring students to enroll in both; i.e. one section is dependent on the other (allowing you to enroll a student into multiple sections at once). The student will be automatically enrolled in dependent sections when enrolled in the master section.
For instance, you can enroll a student into a homeroom section and they will automatically be enrolled in the dependent sections at the same time.
Dependent sections are only used for enrollment, not dropping. PowerSchool will not recognize the dependent sections when a student is dropped from the master section and un-enroll them from all the dependent sections. They will need to be dropped from each individual section.
The dependent sections will be entered in the Dependent Sections section of the Edit Section page as a comma-separated list.
There can not be any spaces between the course numbers.
Be sure to comma separate additional courses in the Dependent Sections list.
The homeroom field on the Modify Info must be populated.
Default format: PreferredName(from Teachers Information page) -- Room# (from sections)
Example: Doe, J -- 123

Co-teaching is used for assigning more than one teacher to a class. Co-teachers can be used when a teacher is assisting another teacher or to assign a long-term substitute or teacher for a teacher who is out for an extended period of time.
Predefined numbers assigned to courses. These are set by the state department. Details for course numbers can be found on Satchel.
Dependent Sections indicate that if a student is scheduled for one class, they must also be scheduled for a dependent class(es). You can place students into just one class and PowerSchool automatically enrolls them in one or more other classes at the same time.
The master schedule is made up of all classes created for the school. It is made up of courses that are assigned to teachers. Students can then be scheduled into a teacher's schedule.
A section is an occurrence of a course. Each course can have several sections that meet in different rooms at different times and are taught by different teachers. View, add, edit and delete course sections from the School Setup page.
Dummy staff entries designed to be placeholders for a teacher who is not known yet. Once the teacher for the TBA has been identified you will update the sections for the TBA and replace it with the new teacher's name.
