As a PowerSchool user, you search for data on a daily basis. Searching involve simple searches, compound searches, and complex search codes. But once you find the data, how do you get it into a report or another usable format? Quick Student Export and Custom Student List are tools to help you get the data you need.
Quick Student Export allows you to export information from the students table. Restricted fields will appear masked on the export.
On the start page, search for and select a group of students. A list of students appears in the Current Student Selection section.
Click the Select Function arrow. The Group Functions pop-up menu appears.
Under Student Reports, choose Quick Student Export.
Alternatively, you can click on People → Students → Quick Student Export (in the Student Reports section).
Enter the fields you'd like to export.
You can click on Fields at the bottom of the page to select fields or Contact DATs to create a data access tag for contact data.
The last setup run in Quick Student Export will save.
Click Submit
The resulting file is a will be a txt file that you can open in Excel.
You can save the list of fields used in a Quick Student Export and then copy and paste them into the box on the Quick Student Export page.
Custom Student List allows you to print a list from your web browser or copy and paste into a spreadsheet.
On the start page, search for and select a group of students. A list of students appears in the Current Student Selection section.
Click the Select Function arrow. The Group Functions pop-up menu appears.
Under Student Reports, choose Custom Student List.
Alternatively, you can click on People → Students → Custom Student List (in the Student Reports section).
The last setup run in Custom Student List will save. If you would like to run a Custom Student List with a different set of fields or a different title, you will need to manually make those changes or select a list from the Load List dropdown.
Enter a field name in the Field Name column for each row.
You can click on Fields to the left of the Field Name column to select fields or Contact DATs to create a data access tag for contact data.
Enter a title for each row in the Column Title column
Click Submit
Data Access Tags (DATs) are PowerSchool codes that you can to add to Custom Student List and Quick Student Export to retrieve information from the PowerSchool database. Many DATs have a special naming convention along with specific rules on how to use the DAT.
