When attendance needs to be taken by an office staff member through PowerSchool, keep in mind whether to take daily or meeting attendance.
Elementary uses daily attendance.
Daily attendance is taken for an entire school day.
Daily attendance records indicate absences, tardies, and arrival and dismissal times for an entire school day.
Daily attendance can only be set up and taken at an elementary school on the daily page when there is just one period in the bell schedule used for daily attendance that counts towards ADA.
Middle and high use meeting attendance.
Meeting attendance is taken each time a class meets.
Meeting attendance records indicate their absences and tardies in each class period during the school day.

Attendance is usually entered from the classroom using PowerTeacher Pro. Teachers are able to input present, absent, or tardy attendance codes for their students. Once office staff make changes to the attendance record, the teacher will no longer be able to input attendance for that student for that particular date.
Click on the chair icon next to the corresponding class you need to take attendance for.
When on the attendance page for your class, select the attendance code to give students.
Click inside of the attendance box for the students whose attendance needs to be changed from Present.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 to apply a different attendance code for the students.
Once the proper students have the attendance codes applied, click the Submit button.
You can view a student's attendance on two (2) student pages. Attendance Overview shows a complete view of a student's attendance data for the current term by week/day. A dash(-) indicates that school is not in session or the student is not enrolled on that date.
Quick Lookup shows attendance for the previous and current week and shows attendance totals by term.

This report generates an Attendance Code Validation report in a PDF or CSV format. It looks for validation errors related to the use of state attendance codes SC-ETRD, SC-BTRD, SC-EDSM, SC-CKIN, and SC-DSML. It will validate based on the 50% rule. It can be run for all students or a selection of students and for a specified date range. You should run this report every few days or at least weekly to verify and ensure the correct attendance codes have been entered.
